  • EMDR Therapy: This structured, client-centered therapy helps individuals process and resolve traumatic memories.  EMDR assists clients in reprocessing distressing experiences, reducing their emotional charge, and fostering adaptive resolution, empowering them to move forward with clarity and peace.
  • Exposure Therapy: This therapeutic approach gradually and safely helps clients confront memories, feelings, or situations they have avoided due to trauma. Through therapeutic exposure, clients can reduce the fear and anxiety associated with these triggers, building resilience and regaining control over their lives.

These intensives provide a structured, immersive approach that allows clients to experience deep healing and progress quickly.

Key Features of Intensives:

  1. Condensed Format: Sessions typically range from 2 to 6 hours and are conducted individually or over consecutive days or weeks, depending on individual needs. This allows for sustained focus on processing traumatic memories without the interruptions of weekly gaps.
  2. Personalized Treatment Plans: Intensives are tailored to the unique needs of each client, often beginning with a thorough assessment to identify target memories, triggers, and current symptoms.
  3. Accelerated Healing: By dedicating extended time to therapy, clients can delve deeper into their experiences and achieve results more quickly than through traditional therapy models.
  4. Focused Processing: EMDR intensives prioritize specific trauma memories or clusters of related experiences, helping clients reprocess and desensitize them effectively.
  5. Supportive Environment: Between sessions, clients are provided with tools and strategies for self-care and stabilization, ensuring they remain grounded and supported throughout the intensive process.

...Sometimes it's easier to say "I'm going out to the ranch." than it is to say "I'm going to therapy."

But that's only a part of the story. If sitting in a room across from a therapist makes you feel anxious and agitated, or holding the EMDR paddles feels like you are back as a gunner, then equine assisted EMDR might be for you. Sounds woo-woo, I agree. But it works.  It is a way of decreasing dissociation or flashbacks during processing, and activating the body while processing the trauma. Trauma memory is held in the body. We can't always just think our way out of trauma responses.
